Ben Maddox, Executive Director

Executive Director Ben Maddox has led the Bridges Project for the last two and a half years. Prior to Bridges, Ben served as the Associate Director of Leadership New Mexico, a state-wide leadership training program. Ben is native to Hobbs, New Mexico, and enjoys mountain biking and climbing. Ben serves on the Board of New Mexico Association of Grantmakers and the New Mexico Business Roundtable for Educational Excellence.

Staff member Ben Vásquez has been assigned to LANL College Counseling Program. Ben is a retired educator with experience as an teacher, coach, school counselor and administrator. He is a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling.

Sue Goldberg, College Counselor

Sue has a B.A. in English from Carnegie-Mellon University and an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from New Mexico Highlands University. She was an English teacher with the Taos Municipal Schools for sixteen years and has been involved with the Bridges Project since the summer of 2001.

MISSION STATEMENT
The Mission of the Bridges Project for Education is to send more low-income, minority and first generation students to college, and to provide them with the support they need to succeed there.
In order to do this we:
• Provide free college counseling and financial aid counseling to Taos area residents.
• Collaborate with Taos area schools and with other social service agencies to reach the students who will most benefit from our programs.
• Work to increase the number of middle school students who enroll in college prep classes.
